The Mossmorran BESS is a 300MW strategic development featuring a dual-phased shared connection (comprising 200MW and 100MW units). The project has successfully secured full planning consent and will have direct interconnection with the adjacent substation, securing maximum operational efficiency.

Site Optimization & Land Use
Situated on 13.9 hectares near Auchtertool, the development is designed with a focused infrastructure footprint. By utilizing only a portion of the total acreage for technical assets, the project maintains significant open space for environmental management and advanced landscaping.

Climate Alignment & Grid Resilience
In direct support of Fife Council’s 2045 Net Zero mandate and the 2019 Climate Emergency declaration, this facility serves as a critical stabilizer for the national grid. The project will secure the power supply for thousands of households while facilitating the regional transition to low-carbon energy infrastructure.

Environmental Integration & Biodiversity
A comprehensive ecological strategy has been integrated into the site design to ensure the development remains sympathetic to its surroundings. Key environmental highlights include:

  • Visual Mitigation: Extensive landscape screening to minimize the facility's profile.

  • Biodiversity Enhancements: Dedicated measures to improve local habitats and deliver a positive environmental legacy across the site.
